Weekly Tax Calculations Explained
How Weekly Pay is Taxed
If you are paid weekly, your annual Personal Allowance (£12,570) is divided by 52. This gives you approximately £241 per week that you can earn before paying any Income Tax.
National Insurance on Weekly Wages
Class 1 National Insurance is calculated per pay period. For 2025/2026, you generally start paying NI if you earn more than £242 per week (The Primary Threshold). Unlike Income Tax, NI is not usually cumulative, meaning it's calculated strictly on what you earn that specific week.
